Podcast Award Nomination for the Irish Fireside Podcast

MEDIA RELEASE – For Immediate Release – Tuesday, November 10, 2009

Irish Travel Podcast Nominated for Podcast Award

In a year when tourism has been hard hit, Ireland and the Irish Fireside Podcast have been singled out in the travel category of the 5th Annual Podcast Awards (www.podcastawards.com). The Irish Fireside is the only country-specific podcast among this year’s ten nominees.

“I think this speaks to Ireland’s appeal as a destination and to the quality of the episodes we’ve been producing. I’m thrilled to see Irish travel ranked alongside such well-knowns as Rick Steves and places such as Walt Disney World and New York City,” said Irish Fireside host Liam Hughes.

Voting for the Podcast Awards opens Friday, November 13. Voters can cast one digital ballot per category per day until voting closes on Monday, November 30.

Also appealing to Irish interest, the Irish and Celtic Music Podcast (www.celticmusicpodcast.com) has been nominated in the Podsafe Music category.

About the Irish Fireside
The Irish Fireside Podcast and blog (www.IrishFireside.com) has been highlighting destinations and tidbits of Irish culture through audio and video episodes since February 2006. In 2008, they were nominated for their first Podcast Award. Hosts Liam Hughes and Corey Taratuta split their time between Milwaukee, WI, and County Tipperary, Ireland.

In January 2009, Liam & Corey took an Irish-American Roadtrip, a 40-day journey from Milwaukee to Los Angeles in search of Irish-American stories and experiences. Their travels were documented on their blog, Twitter and YouTube.
