Postcard from Ireland: Claregalway Friary

claregalwayfriary
Claregalway is a small town, 10 miles north of Galway city and is home to the ruins of Claregalway friary. The Claregalway Friary is a medieval Franciscan abbey and can be seen from the main road through Claregalway. Today, the abbey buildings and grounds are open to the public free of charge. The burial grounds surrounding the building are maintained and still in use.
