And the Blog Awards Ireland Winner is…

blogawardsirelad2013The winners of the 2013 Blog Awards Ireland were announced last night, and I’m honored the Irish Fireside earned the top spot in the Best Blog of the Diaspora category which was sponsored by TG4, the Irish language television station.

This honor capped off an amazing week where I was… a featured speaker at the Travel Blog Exchange Conference in Dublin, interviewed on RTE Radio One’s Drivetime, interviewed by the Irish Independent, invited by Failte Ireland to join a crew of the world’s most popular and emerging bloggers to sample the Wild Atlantic Way coastal route, and now this award.

And while all those things are great, my biggest achievement of the week will be publishing a new podcast episode. That’s because our next episode is special; it includes voice mail contributions from more than 35 Irish Fireside listeners… it’s hard enough getting 10 comments on a blog post, much less 35 people to pick up the phone and leave a message! So I’m thrilled to have so many view points to share.

Before I finish this post, I want to take a moment to recognize the finalists in the Best Blog of the Diaspora category. Great work by everyone!
