Dublin Floods

Dublin experienced some serious flooding yesterday… thought you might want to check out some of the images via Irish Weather Online. Fortunately, the waters have receded since this footage was collected.

  1. I heard that Slea Head Drive (R559) at Coumeenole Beach in Co. Kerry washed out as well. We stayed about 1/2 mile up the road from the beach. The flooding in this video looks rough.

  2. not just in Dublin, either, serious flooding in Louth, Down, Tyrone, Belfast, elsewhere in Antrim.
NI Met says that rain systems usually pass through the island in about four days, blown out by winds from the west, but no strong westerlys came to move this one along.

  3. I was in Dublin on Monday and Tuesday and I’m still not dried out yet! Had to pack a very waterlogged pair of shoes and a couple of pairs of wet pants in my luggage. Streets were filled with water and the bus at one point went through a street with the water well above the tires and the stairs at the door. So awful to see those pictures of the flooding.
