Why #IRLDay Can Count on Me… and How Non-Twitter Users Can Jump In

Twitter LoveNext Monday, Ireland (and it’s internet friends) will give the country a much-needed shot in the arm with the launch of #IRLDay (Twitterspeak for “Ireland Day”).

You don’t speak Twitterese??? Don’t worry, read on to find out how you fit in to this.

#IRLDay offers a time when Twitter users around the world will share comments, stories, photos, and other links about the Emerald Isle and brand each message with “#IRLDay.” If enough people use the tag, it will get noticed by the Twitter trend watchers, and  our beloved Ireland will get maximum social media exposure.

So What Will People Be Talking/Tweeting About

Well, it’s the internet, so people can say whatever they want. But you can expect the focus to be on the positive things about Ireland — a welcome break from the financial doom and gloom voices out there.

There’s already a full list of recommended topics for those who aren’t feeling particularly creative… so expect chatter about favorite artists, sporting moments, food, movies, places, sayings, books, drinks.

Why is This Important?

True, it’s Ireland Day every day at the Irish Fireside, but elsewhere, Ireland has been in the news for all the wrong reasons lately. With the Queen of England and the President of the United States both making their first visits to Ireland this month, now is the time for the tide to turn. People around the world are hungry for opportunities that invoke their Irish pride, and we encourage EVERYONE to participate!

Plus, it’s a cool social media experiment… can we get #IRLDay trending on Twitter?

Tweet or Call to participate

Tweet! Retweet! And use the #IRLDay hashtag. Do your part to send a positive message about Ireland.

Call our comment line and leave a short voice message. We’ll try to broadcast them on #IRLDay. It’s best to leave your message as soon as possible, so we have time post it.
