Falconry School in Cong, County Mayo
Judy Arnold from Texas sent us this photo of her grandsons, the Gossoons, on a Hawk Walk at Ireland’s School of Falconry on the grounds of Ashford Castle in Cong, County Mayo.
Judy told us, “It was a total surprise for the boys and of course a highlight of their trip.”
Thanks for sharing Judy! We’ve included a few of our favorite firsthand accounts from the School of Falconry:
- Must-Do Experience: Ashford Castle Falconry Program – Ciao Bambino
- Falconry, Flight, and Fantasy at Ashford Castle – You Can’t There From Here
- Ireland’s School of Falconry – The Gypsy’s Guide

Really interesting! Would love, LOVE, to do that someday! Thanks for the info.
This looks great, Judy! A trip to remember, for sure.
My husband and I did the Hawk Walk while staying at Ashford Castle during our honeymoon a few years ago. This was one of the most wonderful experiences we had while in Ireland and one we still talk about often. We were fortunate enough to be able to spend some time flying “Dingle”, the Falconry Schools Great Horned Owl. I highly recommend this if you are in the area.
