No Waterford Crystal Until June

Waterford Crystal LogoProduction at the Waterford Crystal Factory ceased last year, but the visitor centre remained open. The visitor centre closes its door today for good.

According to RTE News, a new crystal operation is set to open in Waterford this June. Here’s the article http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/0122/wedgwood.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

  1. That is sooooo sad…. I at least hope that the ‘new’ operation will provide some employment for the area… We toured the plant and visitor center, and it was a highlight. Watching the craftsmen/women turn blobs of molten sand into works of art was wonderful. We did our part, so to speak, and purchased several small gifts, that were made in the plant, for friends. “it’s from the Waterford plant”, added a ton to the ‘wow’ factor…. Wish them the best…..

Wow, I am so glad I was able to visit we when went and that i went to Ireland when I did so I was able to go there. To think we almost didn’t go…..I even was part of a demenstration. We too purchased from the shop and enjoyed our time there. Hope it is once again a part of the world as it is a known name
