Abandoned Ireland
Ireland is littered with lost castles, abandoned great houses that were burned down during the “troubles” and other oddities including The Hellfire Club in the Dublin mountains. The website Abandoned Ireland tells the stories of some of these overlooked sites. Even if you don’t take the time to read the history, the evocative photos are haunting. Creeper-clad castles, trees growing through houses, a tower lost in a forest, abandoned schools, a thatched cottage that looks oh so cute from the outside but has been trashed by vandals inside.
